BIKE MS: Colorado 2022
On June 25 - 26, 2022, 1,550 participants set out to bike for a cause. Bike MS is the largest fundraising cycling series in the world. Each year, nearly 75,000 cyclists and more than 6,000 teams participate in rides across the country to change the world for people with MS.
Each ride in the Bike MS series has a unique local flavor while maintaining a consistently well-organized, supportive, and extraordinary experience. Whether you’re a casual, novice or experienced cyclist, you’ll feel right at home at Bike MS.
In 2022, Team JAX consisted of 13 riders, biking 622 total miles, raising $7,204. This is JAX’s 3rd year riding, raising over $20,000. Ashley Vander Meeden, the Marketing Director at JAX is the glue behind the team. Ashley said, "This was my 6th Bike MS ride and my 3rd as the Team JAX captain. I continue to be driven by conversations I have had along the way of friends, coworkers, and family who have connections to MS. Our fundraising matters!"
According to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, The Bike MS community has raised more money than any other cycling event for any other cause. To date, Bike MS cyclists, volunteers, and donors have raised more than $1.4 billion to stop MS in its tracks, restore what's been lost, and end MS forever.
“Multiple sclerosis is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do. The exact cause of MS is unknown, but we do know that something triggers the immune system to attack the CNS. The resulting damage to myelin, the protective layer insulating wire-like nerve fibers, disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness and/or paralysis.
