Keen released Women's NXIS Speed Shoe - their most lightweight, innovative hiking boots to date. To the eye, they look like sneakers, but perform like hiking boots. Keen is known for their Famous Comfort Fit, and these shoes held up to the test. They held my heels in place firmly, while still giving my toes extra room.
I put the Women’s NXIS Speed shoes to the ultimate test- hiking 9 miles through Cascade Canyon in Grand Teton National Park. The terrain was constantly changing- from dirt, to gravel, mud, puddles, and even some rock scrambling in the mix. The deep lugs on their horseshoe tread kept a sturdy grip on all surfaces.
There are other thoughtful details in the design, such as the shoes have built-in odor control, and removable inner soles that are made from PU and offer extra comfort. The static- lace lock system keeps your shoes tied and in place.
I was highly impressed during my rock scramble with the toe protection *no stubbed toes here*, and the reinforcement on the shoe’s panels. Although they’re hiking boots, they were undoubtedly light and durable enough to do trail running as well.
The Keen boots locked my foot into place throughout the hike. Another one of my favorite specs of these are how lightweight they are- you can kiss goodbye the bulky, heavy hiker’s boot. Keen brought something totally new to the table with these shoes, while still staying true to the features known and loved.
