Local Lakes Fishing Report

5/20/25

Warm-water: As the temps get warmer, fish will look for large meals to recover from winter. A minnow imitation such as a mini dungeon or leech pattern such as a woolly bugger are excellent choices right now for bass. For conventional tackle, small swim-baits fished near grassy cover and small crayfish lures fished near rocks are excellent starting points. Diving and twitching Rapalas are also an excellent choice for spring fishing.

Cold-water: Cold water lakes, both in the Wyoming Prairie and Colorado front range, have been iced off for about a month and have been fishing well. Alpine Lakes are not quite iced off yet.
