This garden favorite will flourish year after year. Small violet-like blooms of brilliant purple with small 'faces' of white and bright yellow on compact foliage are perfect along borders, rock gardens and under trees. This species likes rich soil and plenty of moisture but will tolerate many areas with good drainage. This is an unusual wildflower that needs a period of darkness for germination. Cover with a very thin layer of soil after sowing.
